A Vodka Watermelon

Yesterday, I didn't write a blog post; which is lucky for those of you who chose 6 for "number of days until Scuba forgets to write" in your local office pool (I think in all the offices in all the countries in all the worlds in all the possible alternate universes, this pool would still never exist). However, I do have a good excuse for missing: a Vodka Watermelon! Today, I'll show you how this is done.

First, you buy a watermelon. I should have taken a photo of me choosing out the largest possible one across the street, but it slipped my mind. Also, buying the biggest one may not have been the best idea - more on that later. Second, you need to make a hole the size of your vodka bottle's spout (or whatever the handle part of a vodka bottle is called). The easiest way to do this is to draw a circle around the cap of the vodka bottle. Done! Next step:

Cut and scoop out the top with a spoon. Then you have to dig out as much watermelon as you can to fit the top of the vodka bottle in to stand without any help, like such:

You may eat what you take out. Then you refrigerate the melon/vodka hybrid...

... and wait for three to five days.

Result: It was alright. I got about 400 milliliters of vodka in there, or about 10-12 shots. But the vodka was concentrated exactly where it poured, in the upper middle of the watermelon and since it was so massive, even a small crowd of 11 people couldn't finish it off. Next time (hopefully sooner than later), I'll use a smaller one to get more concentration. Furthermore, I've heard that drilling a hole in the bottom and letting some juice/vodka pour out into a pan helps create more saturation within the watermelon. Still fun, alcoholic, and an interesting conversation piece, but it could use improvement.

Tomorrow, I plan a little trip around northern China,
